about

The last track on this album, the orchestral piece 'Die unglaublichen Wanderungen der Thiere', was the first to be composed.
'Flora und Fauna auf Bali' was the second and uses material of this last track for recomposition.
'Sichelklinge wider Willen' rearranges the slow movement of Brahms's third piano sonata.
'Harmonisch bin ich kein Genie' rearranges the second movement of Haydn’s string quartet op. 33,5.
Finally, the first track 'Ihre unbeantworteten Fragen beantwortet II' is a retrograde inversion of the string quartet setting of 'The Unanswered Question' by Charles Ives arranged for piano four hands.

Listener's opinions about the 'Die unglaublichen Wanderungen der Thiere':
- "This music fascinates and challenges, in what strange place, in which world does it lead us, how do we know about it? What was the question? An atmosphere made of strangeness, evoking neither paradise nor hell but a different place, elsewhere ... A 3D album, experimental, sometimes confusing. To listen to with attention."

- "hypnotic ... quietly pleasant daydreamy quality sounds and tunes ... mysterious in some spots ... the album taken as a whole, rather than separate tracks, tells a story of an ancient age-old swampy world ... where people lived on islands of trees and beasts lived in the murky waters ... here there are mists and frightful entities but conversely there are beautiful flowers and sunsets and birds ... and to frighten off the monsters and storms there are hired musicians to compose differing strokes of the bell at certain intervals ... each tone must be unique from all the others during the time of the sun plus the time of the moon ... or the storm will strike ... the monster will arise ... and there the musician will die ... and they did ... because they always forgot what note they had struck 25 strikes before ... So the shoe maker's youngest son aspired to be a musician and of course ... everyone scoffed at his ambition ... but ... well to make a long story short ... he was the only one who could create a new note at these intervals to lull the beasts and ward off the threatening storms ... because he invented a new instrument to make these sounds ... and as he was a lazy boy he had created his instrument with a windup apparatus so he would wind it up for those 24 hours and then he could take long walks and naps ... and he got very, very rich indeed ... well, and he also married the princess but that is another story ... and I don't want to tell it ... OK ... write your own story ... this is a good album to give inspiration to a wandering mind ..."

about

Wolfgang Kirchheim Heidelberg, Germany

"I want to tell stories with my music. Stories without text, without plot, more like a (not-so-)blank sheet, a musical frame in which I can imagine stories or story fragments. I like the idea of having space for my own feelings and emotions while listening to music and that is what I try to provide for my listeners as well." ... more
